Summer Reading
3rd and 4th Grade

This six weeks, 3rd and 4th graders will focus on deeper thinking through their summer reading.  They will be creating projects around their reading using technology, G/T Icons, and their imaginations . We will address our STEAM initiative by giving students the option to create their projects using various programs on their iPads as well as encourage artistic creativity and critical thinking skills.

3rd graders will use this as an introduction into storytelling for the Region VII Imagination Fair in October.

Pursuit of Passion

1st and 2nd graders will begin the year by identifying and researching their passions, evaluating and citing sources, and synthesizing information.  After evaluating and organizing information, students will choose how to present information learned through the Texas Performance Standards Project, "Pursuit of Passion".

In accordance with our District's STEAM initiative, we are incorporating technology to demonstrate and communicate what we have learned.  Students are employing critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they tackle Prezis, PowerPoints, iMovie book trailers, and more.  Stay tuned for the big reveal!
