Celebrate Arbor Day:

October 30

The community is invited to celebrate Arbor Day on Wednesday, October 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gleneagles Park. Help us plant low-maintenance native plants to enhance the beauty of the park following the extensive rehabilitation work completed by our Public Works Maintenance Team this spring.

Rain or shine, come together to mark another year of Tree City USA status with a ceremonial tree planting and enjoy light refreshments.

For more information or to RSVP, please email volunteer@newcastlewa.gov. We look forward to seeing you there!

New! Fishing Line Recycling Bin

Our Surface Water Management team is excited to announce the newest addition to the Lake Boren Fishing Dock: a fishing line recycling bin. This odd-looking PVC contraption, provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), allows visitors to recycle their fishing line, helping to protect our waterways and local wildlife.

Since 2016, WDFW’s program has recycled hundreds of thousands of feet of fishing line from over 140 recycling bins across the state. Thank you for working together to keep our environment clean and wildlife safe!

Happy October, Newcastle!

Fall has arrived, the leaves are changing, and the rain is coming! As we approach the rainy days ahead, here are some friendly reminders for residents.

This time of year, it's especially important to ensure that trash and recycling are properly stored in bins with the lids closed. This helps prevent contamination of your recyclables and protects our local waterways.

According to the Newcastle Municipal Code, it's up to residents to keep their sidewalks maintained - so make sure to clear away those leaves and debris to keep things clean and safe.

30th Anniversary:

Honoring Community Contributors

As part of our 30th Anniversary, the City of Newcastle Community Activities Commission is honoring some of the remarkable individuals whose contributions have been instrumental in Newcastle's evolution since 1994. They've made an enduring impact, helping our city flourish into the vibrant community it is today.

This week, the Commission highlights longtime residents and volunteers Nathan Stix and Suzi O'Byrne. Both are very familiar faces at our annual Newcastle Days celebration, exactly where these photos were taken!
