An understanding of the current science and innovations in brain research in regard to neurodiversity across all children has never been more crucial or accessible. Renowned expert Dr. Fumiko Hoeft will walk us through the multi-faceted impact of biological, social and cultural influences on learning and learning outcomes, and impart her wisdom on successful strategies to help our children maximize their unique strengths, motivation and resilience as they navigate the classroom and home. Moderated by Ben Powers, a researcher and educator who works with students with dyslexia and ADHD and is Executive Director of The Southport School and CoLAB in Connecticut.

Richard Reeves, PhD, is President of the American Institute for Boys and Men, an organization with a mission to raise awareness of the problems of boys and men and advocate for effective solutions. His 2022 book, Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do About It, was described as a "landmark" in The New York Times and named a book of the year by both The Economist and The New Yorker. He is a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC, where he previously directed the Future of the Middle-Class Initiative and the Center on Children and Families. Moderated by Lee Fertig, Head of School, The Nueva School.”

Event Attendance
The Fall 2023 Common Ground Speaker Series will feature in-person and live events. Parents, faculty and staff at our member schools attend the Common Ground online events free of charge. Faculty and educators from non-member schools are also invited to attend free of charge. Guests from non-member schools and the general community are welcome to register and attend the virtual and in person events for a nonrefundable $10 fee. Please register for each event to receive webinar access, reminders and updates.
