FAMILY FIRST WORKSHOPS

AUG 4
PAPER BOAT ARMADA

For this shortened workshop, we’ll begin by making a nautical scene inspired by Lyonel Feininger’s Rainbow II (1928) and conclude with a swim in the historic 1930s pool. 
SEPT 8
SIMPLE SHAPES SILKSCREEN

Think about rhythm and shape as you prepare stencils for a simple, two-color screen printing project. All participants will learn how to pull a print with a screen and make several prints using their own stencils.

CUT AND CREATE COLLAGE

North Carolina-born artist Romare Bearden worked magic with scissors and paper, to create scenes and images. In this workshop visit his jazzy Alto Composite (1974) and create your own collage with various provided papers.

HOLIDAY TOUR AND
CARD-MAKING

In addition to learning a little about holidays at Reynolda, visitors will explore holiday paintings and magazine covers created year after year by illustrator J.C. Leyendecker.

FAMILY RECREATION TOUR AND SWIM
Saturday, September 28
10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
$50 per adult/child pair
Space is limited; advance purchase required. 
Decades of sport across the estate will be explored on this outdoor/indoor walking tour designed for families. This three-hour experience will take you and a young visitor outdoors from the tennis courts to the pump house that supplied water for the outdoor pool. A close look at recreational areas in the 1930s basement will be the last stop before you change into swimwear and jump in for a one-hour swim in Reynolda’s historic indoor pool.  
REYNOLDA HOMESCHOOL DAY
Wednesday, October 30
10 a.m.–noon and 1–3 p.m.
$8 per student; up to one adult per two children are free; $2 per additional adult
We recommend 1 adult per 2 kids.

Our home is your homeschool, too! Homeschool students and teachers are invited to visit Reynolda House and Gardens for art and nature-based learning in this new program. At the Gardens, take a self-guided stroll, take a tree tour of the grounds with an educator, and pot your own plant to take home. At Reynolda House, self-tour the Museum, learn about the history of the family and home, and engage with artwork through conversation.

Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their very young learners (0-3 yrs) in a stroller, front carrier, or backpack for a relaxed and fun walking tour of the Reynolda grounds. Meet at the Museum’s front entrance.
MORNINGS AT THE MUSEUM

To promote reading readiness and visual literacy, you and your preschoolers will explore Reynolda through hands-on activities that encourage dramatic play, music, movement, and art-making. Families will visit different spaces in the Museum and on the grounds. For better mobility in the museum, please use front carriers for young siblings.
REYNOLDA READ-ALOUD
One Friday morning per month
10 a.m.–10:30 a.m.
Free; registration requested
Join us for storytime for pre-readers at the Museum! We will read children’s books together and participate in activities that relate to the stories.

For Ages 2–5, accompanied by an adult; younger siblings are welcome.
