Lehman College remembers Professor Emeritus Dr. Bernard Irwin Shockett. A jazz pianist, Dr. Shockett served as Music Department Chair, supporting and advocating for faculty, staff, and students, for 28 years at Lehman. He established the Music B.S. program and also created the Local 802 undergraduate program and the graduate Music MAT degree, programs designed for working musicians. Dr. Shockett is survived by his daughter Susan, his cherished grand-daughter Kathryn, his close friend, life partner (and music dept staff member) Darina, and their furry baby Lola.
