HELP US REACH OUR GOAL.
$30,000 FOR 2019 ART, CULTURE AND SMALL BUSINESS
So many exciting things are happening next year, we need your support to bring Anacostia this season of arts, culture and small business. The Anacostia Arts Center - as a project of the community based nonprofit organization - ARCH - provides free music and visual arts programming, including All The Way Live Tuesdays!, Second Sunday Jazz, Anacostia Artist Market and much more.
In 2017, the Anacostia Arts Center became home to MahonganyBooks, the first bookstore East of the Anacostia River in more than 20 years. This family owned business has exceeded expectations, garnering local and national notoriety. Nubian Hueman, a boutique that caters to unique and highly curated fashion and art, has been so successful in their five years, that they were able to expand the store. This expansion was subsidized by ARCH and the Great Streets Project, in order to support growth in the Anacostia community.
In the Black Box Theatre, we have hosted, Helen Hayes Award-winning plays, musicals, film screenings, community meetings and comedy shows. On our walls we have exhibited more East of the river artists than any other gallery in Washington DC. We are in the community and for the community!
The Hive 2.0, another project of ARCH, is the only co-working space in Southeast DC. Home to over 60 small businesses and entrepreneurs, like Trusted Solutions Group which provides construction jobs for returning citizens and the underemployed.

Everyday, someone discovers that ARCH has a place for them. With a sun-drenched lounge and chill creative atmosphere, people come to the Anacostia Arts Center to shop, eat, and create. These guests range from students, to people between housing, executives, politicians, writers, painters, musicians and entrepreneurs.

YOU can help us continue our work into 2019 by contributing to our goal of $30,000. Every dollar and dime makes a difference.

Thank you for your support. Come visit us soon.

Jerri Hubbard: Burning Inspiration
Local Artist
Local artist Jerri Hubbard is a survivor of the the Arthur Capper Senior Public Housing complex fire which displaced 160 senior residents.

Ms. Hubbard was one of eleven artists featured in the 12th Annual East of the River Exhibition at the Honfleur Gallery in July this year.
"I was able to save a few pieces of my work but this gives me a reason to start creating again" - she stated.

Ms Hubbard will celebrate her 78th birthday later this month. Her optimism is truly inspiring, we can't wait to see what new pieces she creates.

Fierce, fashionable momma!

DC native Lynette Loss was raised in Historic Anacostia. She became interested in vintage clothing at a very young age. Despite her passion for art and fashion, she studied Accounting Business Administration and received a B.A. Degree from the University of the District of Columbia.

Lynette wore only vintage suits at work, she received so many compliments that she decided to start a wardrobing business and named it “Lynnie’s Fashions!”
Lynette Voss
While working full-time and operating her own business, Lynette took a part-time Sales Associate position at Nordstrom. She quickly worked her way up to Assistant Manager after becoming a top seller in the Women’s Active, Handbags and Fashion Jewelry Department.

Lynette managed several clothing stores, owned and operated kiosks in local malls. She hosted several fashion shows, displaying all of her fabulous finds. Finally she decided to open a boutique of her very own. That’s when Vintage & Charmed was born!

Lynette takes great pleasure searching and finding all of the one-of-a-kind fashions that reside in her boutique. Vintage & Charmed is located in the Anacostia Arts Center. Open Tuesday through Sunday.
