E.R. Bardo

Tarn had a reaction to a vaccine that landed us in the overcrowded emergency room (don’t worry, she is okay). What an amazing place to practice compassion and offer healing mantras! It is like another bardo, an “in-between” state of existence in which we have the opportunity to behold the clear light of our true nature amidst what seems like chaos.

The other bardos according to the Buddhist tradition are: this life, dying, the space between death and rebirth, birth, sleep/dream, and meditation. The E.R. seems to blend all the bardos into one. Life and death are literally occurring at the same time and in the same space. It is very dreamlike and offers the perfect environment for meditation.

As we watch the play of our shared humanity negotiate the health care system, there is a light peeking through. It is the light of our original awareness seeking to express itself through kindness and compassion. I think we are always in the E.R.

Much Love,

🙏🏼🌎❤️Michael

P.S. Prayers to all the patients and health care workers in overcrowded emergency rooms everywhere. This situation is getting worse in our hospitals due to some unfortunate policies by a few insulated folks in positions of power.
