**Endurance in Suffering:

Trusting God's Purpose**

Suffering, though painful, is not without purpose. In Romans 5:3-4, Paul writes, "We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope." This passage reminds us that through our trials, God is shaping us for greater spiritual maturity.

In Psalm 34:18, David assures us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Even in our deepest pain, God is intimately present, offering comfort and redemption. This promise is echoed in Isaiah 43:2, where God declares, "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you."

Jesus Himself exemplified suffering in the ultimate act of love on the cross. Hebrews 12:2 urges us to "fix our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Through His suffering, Jesus brought salvation and eternal hope to all who believe.

As we endure trials, let us cling to these truths: suffering refines us, draws us closer to God, and strengthens our faith. Let us trust in God's sovereign plan, knowing that He uses all things for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28).

Johann Sebastian Bach often put "JJ" at the top of his compositions. "JJ" was an abbreviation for the Latin words Jesu, Juba: "Jesus Helps".

At the end of his compositions he would put, "SDG", an acronym for the Latin words Soli Deo Gloria: "To God Be the Glory Alone!"
