Letter from the General Manager
As summer winds down and we welcome the crisp, cool days of fall, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for another wonderful season at the marina. It’s been a pleasure seeing so many of you out on the water enjoying everything our marina and community have to offer.
This summer brought fantastic weather, memorable events, and strong camaraderie among our members. Your enthusiasm and care for the marina made it all possible—thank you!
Please ensure you get your boat scheduled for haul-out and winterizing. Use the online form below to reserve your haul-out date. Outdoor winter storage spaces are filling up quickly. Let us know your plans so we can accommodate you.
Hopefully many of you will find the time to make it down here and enjoy the river before haul out begins. Be sure to call the office to reserve a spot for the fall party, held on Saturday September 27th. Limited space is available so it would be best to sign up early.
Our maintenance crew will begin seasonal inspections and repairs in early November. We’re already planning for next season and always welcome your feedback. If you have ideas or suggestions to improve your marina experience, please reach out—we’d love to hear from you.
On behalf of the entire team, thank you for being a valued part of our marina community. Wishing you smooth waters this fall and a safe, cozy off-season ahead.
Thanks for a great boating season.
Regards,
Scott Baken, General Manager

Winterizing & Haul Out Information
The online winterizing form has been updated this year!
Every boat in our marina needs to have a form filled out for the winter, even if we do not do your winterizing.
If you have multiple boats: fill out a form for EACH BOAT!
For DIY boaters, simply check the "DIY" box on the form and we'll know that you plan to do the work yourself.
If we do your winterizing and you need any additional service work done, you can let us know here too!
For boats being pulled out of the water and stored on land, make sure to sign up early.
Launch weeks fill up fast and are maxed out at 50 boats per week! If you fail to sign up for haul out, we will pull the boat at our convenience with an additional fee.

Important Notice!
Windmill Marina is NOT responsible for lines, fenders, power cords or other belongings left on your boat or the dock.

What Should You Do With Your Batteries?
Quick answer: leave them in the boat!
If we do your winterizing services, we need to run your boat. If you remove the batteries, we will have to use our shop supplies and will charge an extra $50 for your winterizing service.
Make sure your batteries are fully charged prior to storage. Good batteries are capable of withstanding winter temperatures. Windmill does not remove or store batteries when performing winterizing services. If you want to remove your battery, you will have to wait until winterizing is complete and you will need to put a hold on your shrink wrap. Boats at the marina are normally shrink wrapped shortly after they come out of the water.

What Should You Do With The Hull Plug?
(for boats stored on the trailer)
After parking your boat and trailer in your designated spot, remove the hull plug and put it in the cup holder by the steering wheel. With excessive rain, your boat can sink on land!

Rodents Under Wrap?
How To Keep Them Out
Shrinkwrap is a great way to protect your boat from the elements, but it can create an inviting place for rodents to venture in and make themselves at home.
While there is no way to prevent rodents entirely, there are a couple precautions you can take:
Make sure to remove all food and scented items!
Use a rodent deterrent (such as peppermint oil, dryer sheets, Irish Spring soap, mothballs or ultrasonic devices) to prevent nesting.
Remember: rat poison can pose a danger to children, pets and wildlife!

Gas Tank:
Empty or Full for the Winter?
Our Service Department recommends filling your gas tank to a maximum of 3/4. An overfilled tank will leak fuel out the side when the weather gets warm in the spring.

DIY Bubble Boats
If you do your own winterizing services and you are bubbling your boat (water storage) over the winter, we will notify you what slip you'll be in and it will be your responsibility to move your boat to your assigned slip.
There is a $100 fee if Windmill has to move the boat for you.

Fall Gas Dock Hours
Our fuel dock will remain open until mid-to-late October, as the weather permits. We open every morning at 8:00AM and close at dusk. As the sun begins to set earlier, evening fuel dock hours will shorten. It's a good idea to call the office and confirm closing times before you arrive.
