RESULTS ARE IN!
Michigan's Recycling Rate Survey
A. 87% ... 6.8%

B. 53% ... 36.4%

C. 24% ... 34.9%

D. 15% ... 16%

E. 9% ... 5.9%
It looks like the majority of you think Michigan's recycling rate is 53%. Sadly, that is far from the truth.

Michigan's current recycling rate is just 15%, which is well below the national average of nearly 35% and the lowest of the Great Lakes states.

However, the RRRASOC member communities collectively have a recycling rate of 39% and consistently divert more than 35,000 tons annually from landfill disposal through recycling, composting, Simple Recycling textile program and household hazardous waste collection events.
