The Volunteer Voice
Vol.6 Issue 9    Jersey Cares. Be The Change. Volunteer.   September 2017

The season is changing so fast, it's making us dizzy!

The weather is cooling off, which means it's time for you to FALL into a new routine and add volunteering to your calendar.

This coming season, we have continued opportunities down the shore , a Halloween Costume Drive , and many more ways you can be the change! Add us to your calendar between apple picking and pumpkin patch dates. We promise you won't want to miss out on new and meaningful ways to volunteer this fall!
Projects That Need YOU!
Be a hero and sign up for one of these opportunities that don't have enough volunteers to be completed. You can "save the day" by registering for the projects below and/or sharing this with your network.

The Halloween Costume Drive Begins!
For most children's shelters and other organizations, Halloween costumes do not make the list of essentials in the budget, leaving children feeling left out of the festivities and forgotten. Volunteers like you can make a difference by collecting new and gently used costumes. Help children feel a part of the fun with the rest of their classmates by bringing children's costumes to our office between September 13th and October 25th!
UBS Shows Us How to Do Summer !
Many would agree that summer is the best season of the year. Great weather, the beach, wearing shorts, and vacations are all reasons we love the it. But for UBS volunteers, summer takes on an entirely different meaning. From June-August in 2017, more than 200 UBS volunteers participated in 16 different service events as a part of their “Season of Service” initiative.

Volunteer Star
Often when people are asked to volunteer, they say, "I'm too busy." What they're really saying is, "it's not a priority," because we always have time for the things in our life that we make a priority. Well, this month's Volunteer Star is Amina Hylton, a busy professional who makes volunteering a priority in her life. And for that, we are truly grateful.

Staff Spotlight
Meet Kathleen (Kat), one of the newest members of the Jersey Cares Corporate Service team -- although after getting to know her, you would think she had been planning projects for years!

When Kat's not coordinating volunteer events, she enjoys painting (she’s good too—check her out here ), trivia, and spending time with her family and dog, Irwin. We thought you might like to get to know this new member of our team a little better!
