Bull-O-Ween 2018 Wrap-Up

Our 15th Anniversary Bull-O-Ween was a huge success. A week of rain cleared just in time for everyone to get out and enjoy themselves. It was great to see dogs who had been adopted come back with their forever families, and doing so well. There were a lot of happy tears shed. Who knew there were so many ways to dress up your Bulldog? And who knew there were so many Bulldogs!

This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and this year did not disappoint. We want to thank all the organizers and volunteers who worked for months to make it happen. We also want to give a special thanks to all our sponsors and vendors.

Bulldog Highlight -- Meet The Queen of Soul

Long live the Queen of Soul! Seven year old Aretha entered rescue the day Aretha Franklin died.

Aretha is officially retired and received her freedom ride from South Texas recently. She was in a shelter, but never claimed, even though she was microchipped. What a Chain of Fools ! You can tell she has more than a few litters, so maybe someone just let her go to find her own new life.

She writes: “My name is Aretha, but I really love being called Mama. I have a had a very exciting week. I stole one of the puppy’s toys and it’s my most favorite thing. I have learned that I really love anything that squeaks! I may walk like an old lady, but I sure play like the young pups.

I also have claimed my spot on the couch. I think it has my name on it because it’s really just mine. I’m a queen and all queens deserve a throne. Foster Mom loves cuddling with me and I soak it all in. I’m just a big love bug. I have finally learned how to play with the puppy. She is hyper and it’s sometimes too much for me, but I’m working on keeping up. I’m definitely not a morning person. Thank goodness Foster Mom let’s me sleep in! And when, 9 p.m. hits, it’s bedtime. I also have learned that I love watching Foster Dad cook. I’ll only beg for a little bit. Then it’s time to lay down and just hang out with him. I have learned how to go out the doggy door and even how to push open the front door, but I also wait on the humans to walk with me.

I’m a big cuddle bug. I like to give tons of kisses. Foster Mom says she is madly in love with me. I may wobble when I walk, but I’m truly a puppy a heart. I’m just looking for someone to spoil me rotten and give me tons of snuggles!

Foster Christmas Needs

Christmas is a special time for most of us. This is also true for our foster families and the dogs they keep. When a foster family joins rescue they accept a lot of responsibility and expense. While rescue provides the dog and vet care, the family provides most everything else.

To help defray some of the expense, we are having a Christmas Party on December 15 for all the dogs and foster families in rescue. We are looking for a wide variety of gifts. Check out our Amazon Wish List and purchase what you can to help us out. Be sure to check back closer to the event as fosters will be updating the list for specific items they need this year.

This year the need is greater than ever. We have more foster families and we have more dogs. Some families have taken in extra dogs to help out. I don’t even want to think of the food bill for 6 dogs, yet some families have that many dogs between their personal dogs and fostering several. Please help us help and support them!

Cornhole Tourney for Bulldogs

Trinity River Distillery at 1734 E. El Paso Street in Fort Worth

Get ready to toss for a cause… Join us for a Bulldog Bonanza and Cornhole Tournament!

We’ll be visiting Trinity River Distillery and we want you to come out too. Stop by to say hello to the cutest Bulldogs around ~ some of the foster dogs of Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. You’ll also be able to meet some of our volunteers to learn more about our program and ask your Bulldog-specific questions. Plus, you’ll be able to purchase one of our T-shirts to support and raise awareness of our mission of saving Bulldogs.
