This week we are at the America's SBDC conference in San Diego learning about best practices in small business development across the country. 1400 SBDCers are connecting and discussing creative and new ways to serve our communities. We are excited to bring some ideas home to share in Central Virginia!

Fall is off to a high speed start. Minority Business Month is filled with great events and opportunities to connect. You will find below two options to pitch for money, some fun community events, and news about grants and other business resources.

September is Cville's Minority Business Month!
Immerse yourself into the community events hosted by the Minority Business Program! This month is about acknowledging, supporting, and celebrating minority-owned businesses.
Quad Business Summit and
QuadTank Pitch Competition
The 7th annual Quad Business Summit will bring together businesses from the counties of Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange, and others from Central Virginia for a half-day of networking opportunities. All are welcome to attend!

The Summit will include Kelli Palmer, Chief Diversity Officer at Willow Tree, as the keynote speaker discussing winning in talent attraction and retention. The event also features a local business owner panel discussion with Q&A, and the Annual QuadTank Pitch Competition.
If your business is located in Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison or Orange County, you may enter to compete in the fourth annual QuadTank Pitch Competition – an exciting addition to the Quad Business Summit. The winning individual or team this year will be awarded a $6,500 minimum cash prize to support implementation of their business plans. At the end of the Quad County Business Summit, the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges.

In this workshop, we review the steps for a successful start, the registrations and regulations, and the components of sound business planning and financial projections. This workshop is offered twice monthly.
