Greetings!
Pledge Humility
Humility = the fear of the Lord
"Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life."
Proverbs 22:4
Take this pledge seriously and it will be the most difficult thing you will ever do!
In the early 2000's, we had a series of youth gatherings called "Pure for God" some of which were themed, "Sexual Purity", "The Power of God", "Mission"; all were well attended and received. However, when we scheduled "Pure for God - PRIDE", we hit a wall.
Youth leaders said the topic wasn't interesting or relevant! Hmmmm......
We talk about "Every Man's Battle" and men will flock...but when you read the Bible isn't pride a bigger issue
and cause of failure than sex?
Isn't pride every man's BIGGER battle?
Isn't pride the first sin?
Isn't pride at the core of EVERY sin?
We pledge faithfulness in marriage.
We pledge for building campaigns.
We pledge all sorts of memberships.
It's child's play to keep them compared to keeping the daily pledge to be
humble.
Let's all kneel before Jesus on the Cross, humility personified, know he hangs there for OUR every thoughtless deed, word & thought; then realize He will climb down from there, rise above, rule and reign over every deed, word and thought in our life from here on out!
Humility = the fear of the Lord. THEY ARE THE SAME THING!
Today I wept when I listened to the song, "The Power of the Cross." I encourage you to listen to it. Then with great thought and intent, let's pray and commit ourselves to "Fear the Lord" and be humble with and before everyone. Only through His Spirit is this possible.
When will we learn that when we allow God to produce HUMILITY in us...
all other sins KNEEL AND BOW.
The Power of the Cross
Oh, to see the dawn of the darkest day Christ on the road to Calvary Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then Nailed to a cross of wood
This, the power of the cross Christ became sin for us Took the blame, bore the wrath We stand forgiven at the cross
Oh, to see the pain written on Your face Bearing the awesome weight of sin Ev'ry bitter thought, ev'ry evil deed Crowning Your bloodstained brow
Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneath Quakes as its Maker bows His head Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life Finished the vict'ry cry
Oh, to see my name written in the wounds For through Your suffering I am free Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live Won through Your selfless love
This, the power of the cross Son of God, slain for us What a love, what a cost We stand forgiven at the cross
