COLLECTIONS SPOTLIGHT

A child's crayon drawing titled Skokie Submerged showing the corner of Keeney and Kilpatrick fully underwater as viewed from inside a submarine. Another submarine is visible driving on the road while a person in scuba gear enters an airlock into a submerged building.

"Skokie Submerged" by Mike Ardashnikov, 2000

An eighth grader contributed this drawing to Skokie's time capsule in 2000, depicting a Skokie he imagined being fully submerged underwater in 2025. Of all the predictions in the time capsule, this was perhaps the most oddly prescient given this year's earlier water main break which flooded part of Skokie.

Help us write the next chapter in Skokie history by submitting your suggestions for items representing Skokie in 2025 to include in the next time capsule for 2050.
