Watch Now: Talking Digital Equity with Black Men
This fall, Tech Goes Home launched a new series of Fireside Chats with an engaging conversation featuring three, high-impact Boston nonprofit leaders. The discussion focused on how their critical work in youth mentorship, public health, and community development intersects with digital equity. You can watch the full conversation, “Let’s Talk Digital Equity with Black Men," here. A special thank you to Google for uplifting these important conversations by sponsoring this exciting series. The next Fireside Chat, featuring Rep. Andy X. Vargas, will be released later this fall.
Boston Releases Digital Equity Assessment Results
In October, the City of Boston announced the release of a new Digital Equity Assessment on City efforts to close gaps in broadband affordability, devices, and digital skills. The report discusses Boston’s persistent digital divide and highlights key efforts to bridge that divide, including work being done in partnership with Tech Goes Home. TGH has been proud to work with the City of Boston for more than 20 years to advance digital inclusion across the City’s neighborhoods, and we look forward to continuing that work in the months and years ahead. Read more about TGH’s work with the City here, and view the results of the assessment here.

Partner Highlight: Everett Public Schools
When classwork, homework, and family engagement moved online during the pandemic, many families throughout Massachusetts were looking for new ways to stay connected and involved in their child’s education and school community. In Spring 2021, Tech Goes Home partnered with Everett Public Schools’ (EPS) English Learner Department to begin offering TGH programming to caregivers of students who are English Learners. Courses are offered in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese. Since launching the partnership, more than 120 learners have graduated from TGH courses at EPS, and we look forward to continuing these programs as families work to navigate an increasingly virtual schooling experience.
An Exciting Year in Essex County
As Tech Goes Home reaches the one-year anniversary of our expansion into Essex County, we’re so proud of the work we’ve done in collaboration with our incredible partner organizations and supporters, including the Essex County Community Foundation. To date, more than 175 learners have graduated from TGH programs throughout the region. We look forward to continuing to grow and strengthen our digital inclusion work in Essex County, and are exploring how our work there can serve as a model for bringing TGH’s programming to other regions across the Commonwealth.
