MIT Honored by USTA New England

Middlebury Indoor Tennis and the Addison Athletics Foundation have been awarded the title of 2024 Organization of the Year by USTA New England! The quality and diversity of youth programs, accessibility of our facility to the local community, and high quality of our courts and club helped gain the attention of USTA Vermont who nominated MIT for this prestigious award. Kudos to all of our staff, board members, club members, partners, and patrons; together we have made MIT a very special tennis community!

Fall Youth Tennis

Now that school is underway again, MIT's fall youth programs start up on September 9th. Check out the schedule here, and consider registering your child for group lessons at the club. There are plenty of options for players of all ages and abilities. Registration is welcome at any point during the season.

Private sessions are available at your convenience. Contact the club to learn more.

Tiger Tennis Returns!

The popular Tiger Tennis program is back! This free introductory program is an opportunity for middle and high school students to learn the basics of tennis. Fall Tiger Tennis starts September 9th and will be held outdoors at the Middlebury Parks and Recreation Departments public courts on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Contact Franz Collas for more information or to register.

Vergennes Intro Tennis

Live in the Vergennes area and want to learn how to play tennis? MIT is collaborating with the Vergennes Parks and Recreation Department to offer an introductory session of tennis for kids and adults. Starting on September 10th, there will be afterschool options on Tuesdays for children in grades 3 to 8, and early evening options for adults at 5 pm. For more information, click here.

Hello 8-Month Members!

Interested in playing indoors for the cooler months? We have short-term 8-month memberships available from October through May, or you can opt for a month-to-month membership if that's more suitable with your schedule. Contact our front desk for more information.

USTA Teams

Middlebury Indoor Tennis is pleased to be the home court facility for several USTA adult teams this fall. Thank you to MIT members who have stepped up to captain teams that give people an opportunity to compete:

Meshi Chavez, captaining a mixed doubles 8.0 team; Karen Lueders and Mary Saudade, captaining a women's 4.0 Tri-Level team; and Heather Potter, captaining a women's 4.0 Tri-Level team.

Welcome Back!

We are delighted to welcome back Meshi Chavez (pictured on the left) to our teaching team! A visiting dance professor at Middlebury College, Meshi will be joining our teaching staff, along with Joe Morsman (Middlebury College student), and Brianna Cotroneo, who are available for private lessons as well as youth and adult group clinics. Glad to have these talented pros joining Franz Collas and Heather Potter at MIT!

Where's Rene??

Rene Saenger, a familiar face at MIT's front desk and active presence on the court, is off to Italy...just temporarily! Rene is there with Dragonheart Vermont, an organization that strives to strengthen and empower breast cancer survivors through the challenging sport of dragon boating. Dragonheart Vermont is celebrating 20 years with five teams competing in Ravenna, Italy at the world championships. Our very own Rene is there paddling her heart out for the 50+ women's team! Check out their progress here, where you can watch Rene and her team compete Sept. 4 at 1:30 pm, Sept. 6 at 11:25 am, and Sept. 8 at 11:20 am. Go Rene!!

Po-tay-to, Po-tah-to?

Back by popular demand, we're sharing a tasty potato salad recipe that skips the mayo and boasts a burst of flavor from fresh herbs and some mighty Dijon mustard. Enjoy this healthy alternative that is delicious warm, room temperature, or straight from the fridge.
