Every fall season, we celebrate Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month from September 15th through October 15th. The anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua is September 15th, while Mexico and Chile celebrate their independence on the 16th and 18th.

We invite you to continue learning about and understanding the history behind Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month and the communities it celebrates. Our schools and students celebrated in numerous ways, including this Salsa Warm Up presented at ETM-LA's recent music teacher training academy! And here are some of our teacher's book and song recommendations for students of any age:

  • A Song of Frutas
  • Grandma's Records
  • Kitchen Dance
  • Sofia Valdez, Future Prez
  • Dancing Hands: How Teresa Carreño Played the Piano for President Lincoln
