A Message From Your Chapter President
Dear ACHE of MA Members,

I recently flew to Chicago to attend ACHE's annual Chapter Leaders Conference. I always leave ACHE events re-energized and re-inspired, and this time was no exception. The big question we were asked: "What's your Why?" This question can take many forms - Why did you choose healthcare leadership as a career? Why do you go to work every day? Why do you spend so much time on X? Why be a member of a professional association? Why did you initially join ACHE?

Ask yourself - and others - this "Why?" question with regularity, and you will find that your actions (the "What") may take on a completely new shape and direction.

We also talked about membership value and membership engagement. ACHE and our chapter want to be an indispensable resource to support your career. I'd love to hear from you directly on the value you've found through ACHE membership. Send me a note at [email protected] to let me know how ACHE has benefitted your career, or your ideas on how we can improve to meet that goal. If you're a new member within the past year, I'd especially like your input. We know that there is more that we can do to make our newest members feel welcomed, included, and actively engaged, and your feedback would be helpful as we work to make progress on that journey.

Welcome to Our 2018-19

Member Spotlight
Elaine Monico, FACHE

About Elaine
Elaine is the Director of Network Development for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a Harvard affiliated teaching hospital in Boston, MA. Her responsibilities include hospital and physician network development, relationship management and business development. Elaine has served in this role since 2002, facilitating BID's growth and significantly expanding the medical center's network which includes several member and affiliated hospitals. She is a board certified fellow (FACHE) in health care management through ACHE and holds an MBA from Boston University School of Management. Areas of expertise include developing competitive market-based strategies, including innovative hospital affiliation and physician alignment models, clinical program development and services planning, and designing successful physician outreach and marketing strategies to impact growth.

Fun Fact
Elaine has an identical twin who is a Nurse Practitioner in Rochester, NY. They confuse people because they look so much alike - in other words, don't be surprised if she doesn't say hello! Her sister's care for cancer patients inspires her to do better work.

ACHE Testimonial
ACHE's programs offer great networking forums and are continually informative and timely. The speakers - whether national or local - are excellent and encourage forward thinking on the most important and relevant topics of the day facing health care executives. The moderator led panel discussions are of particular interest and value, providing opportunity for divergent perspectives and engaging dialogue among us all. Thanks to ACHE, I've appreciated many opportunities to learn and grow from colleagues and peers.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
The Professional Development Team held our 2nd 2018 panel series focused on "Making Your Next Move" and career transitions this past Tuesday. The event was a joint collaboration with the Boston Young Healthcare Professionals (BYHP) whose leadership team worked with our team for all event planning, execution, and marketing. We had 100+ attendees.

MENTORSHIP
The Mentorship Team has successful recruited 43 ACHE mentors for our upcoming 2018 program representing a near 30% increase in mentoring matches vs 2017. The team is now working together with our Networking Team to plan our upcoming 2018 Mentorship Opening Event. The event is tentatively scheduled for mid-October.

Chapter Regent Quarterly Letter

Dear ACHE Colleagues,

I hope you had an enjoyable summer. It seems until just recently the intensity of the year followed us through July. Now August (the "Sunday night" of summer) is well behind us. These times require the highest levels of leadership performance from setting vision, aligning systems and engaging teams around the mission of healthcare delivery. I'd like to bring a few resources and opportunities to your attention.
