Welcome

Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year! The semester is off to a great start for the students at The Foundation Schools of Montgomery County. Many exciting activities and trips have given our students the opportunity to connect and expand their knowledge outside of the classroom.

Back to School Carnival

The Foundation School of Montgomery County kicked off the new school year by welcoming our families to our Back to School Carnival. We welcomed over 40 attendees as we enjoyed walking tacos, ice cream, a photo booth, and carnival games, wrapping up the event with an opportunity for parents to talk with teachers.

Experiencing Science

Our high school students visited the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore this fall, where they explored many aspects of science through hands-on activities. They extracted DNA from wheat and tested their own physical and mental strength - all while experiencing the importance of teamwork in achieving tasks.

Summers Farm

Students celebrated the season with a field trip to Summers Farm in Middletown! They had a great time on the hay ride, picking pumpkins, enjoying the games, and petting the farm animals. A huge thank you to the Gaithersburg Rotary Club for funding this exciting trip. Experiences like these build our students’ sense of the world around us and give them an afternoon of nothing but fun and play with their friends.

Staff Recognition

Newcomer Staff of the Quarter: Ms. Groves

Congratulations to Ms. Aniyah Groves as our Newcomer Staff of the Quarter. Beginning at FSMC in October 2023, Ms. Groves arrived with a positive attitude and desire to help our students. She has since shown a great deal of growth, maintaining a self-reflective demeanor while actively seeking and accepting feedback from staff.

Ms. Groves is dependable for her flexibility in supporting students, finding creative ways to make connections with them, and proactively working with other staff to ensure that we are serving them in the best way possible.

Staff of the Quarter

Congratulations to Ms. Nadia Schwapp as our Staff of the Quarter. Ms. Nadia teaches our 5th and 6th-grade students and has shown tremendous growth this school year in her ability to reach our students and have them demonstrate their learning. She makes her classroom fun and works seamlessly with her program assistant to ensure the class structure remains consistent at all times.

Outside of her classroom, Ms. Nadia is always willing to step up and support other students in the program using the relationships she’s built in her time working here.
