Fall 2019
On Sept. 19, the Women’s Endowment Fund convened a group of nearly 100
community members at the Hilton Garden Inn Akron to discuss Collaborative Solutions for the Economic Empowerment of Women during our biennial forum on women and girls. Discussions during the forum were recorded and used to create a comprehensive report to help guide the fund’s 2020 grantmaking decisions.
As we celebrate the change in seasons, we also celebrate the many changes as well as successes of our Women’s Endowment Fund. From gaining new board members to hosting another tremendous forum, 2019 was a substantial year for our fund and we look forward to continuing our momentum into 2020 and beyond. I’m very grateful and honored to help guide our fund’s progression as its new president and carry on the vision of our founding mothers.
Join the Women’s Endowment Fund for our annual “For Women, Forever” dinner on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Goodyear Hall in Akron. This year’s keynote speaker is Jill Penrose, senior vice president of human resources and corporate communications at The J.M. Smucker Company. During the event, we will also honor Sylvia Trundle, retired captain of Akron Police Department’s Patrol Subdivision and community volunteer, with the 2020 Judith A. Read Tribute Award for Service & Advocacy for Women.

Our fund recently welcomed five new members to our advisory board: Donna Delgado, senior digital marketer, Summa Health; Kim Huff, community relations representative, OMNOVA Solutions Foundation; Erin Palmer, CFO & in-house legal counsel, Leppo Group, Inc.; Diana Selzer, vice president, commercial banking, Wells Fargo Middle Market Banking Group; and Monica Vinay, vice president, investor relations & treasurer, Myers Industries, Inc. Please join us in welcoming these women to our fund.
WEF raised nearly $40,000 during our SHEro campaign throughout the month of April. For the second year, this fundraising was made possible by 36 local ambassadors committed to raise at least $1,000 each through their personal and professional networks. These funds will contribute to our grantmaking efforts, which support programs that improve the health and wellness, safety, and economic empowerment of women and girls in Summit County.
Thank you to the generous donors who contributed to the Women's Endowment Fund from March 1 - Sept. 30, 2019. Your gifts will uplift and empower women and girls in our community for many years to come.
