Annual Partners for Equity Breakfast
We are so thankful for all who celebrated 25 years with us at our Partners For Equity Virtual Breakfast. It was an incredible morning remembering our roots, honoring our present, and envisioning our future.

CIS Alumnus Speaker, AK Sterling, said it best: “The world is not equitable, so how can school be?” But with everyone’s support and becoming a Partner For Equity, we can work towards a future where success will no longer be predictable based on one’s race or socioeconomic status.

As Renton School District's Superintendent Dr. Damien Pattenaude said:
“We must be arrogant enough that we can make a difference and humble enough to know that it’s tough.”
And as Tukwila School District Superintendent Dr. Flip Herndon said:
“This is only the beginning.”

Elevating Student Voice
To meet the needs of students and their families during these unprecedented times, we are adapting and evolving our service delivery model in a three-phased approach focused on: Recover. Reengage. Reimagine.

Our REIMAGINE phase focuses on elevating student voice and here's an example of how we're doing this:

Two of our high school team members, Ty Laury (Renton High School) and Lorenza Scott (Lindbergh High School), have recently formed a student led empowerment group to engage students in advocating for themselves and others as well as develop their leadership skills.

Teaming up with The Y

Thanks to a new partnership with the Coal Creek Family YMCA, we’re helping 200 students within 16 Renton schools get nutritious and easy to prepare food on the weekends.

A special thank you to the Renton Regional Foundation's COVID-19 Response Fund for supporting this new collaboration.
