WHAT THE RIDERS HAVE BEEN UP TO THIS SEASON

MADISON BLODGETT

This summer was all about education for me. It was my first full summer here in Aiken, South Carolina, and the highlight was being selected to participate in the U21 Emerging Athlete Clinic at Stable View in July with Emily Beshear. I am excited to take the training from the summer and get back out in the next couple of months as the competition season begins. I am extremely grateful for the Jeffie Foundation as it has been a huge help this year in allowing me to achieve many education and competition goals.

MEAGHAN NELSON

Over the summer I was a working student for my trainer, Sarah Kuhn. We went to Tryon International for an event at the end of May. Missy was great for that and we ended up finishing in the ribbons in 8th. We went to a jumper show at Bruce’s field in June for 2 meter classes. In the beginning of August we went to Chatt Hills for another training and finished in 5th. Now we are preparing for a move up to modified. As we move into the winter season we plan to compete at Stableview, Pinetop, Florida Horse Park and Tryon. My biggest accomplishment of the summer was getting my C3 in Ponyclub. I appreciate the help the Jeffie Foundation gives me to participate in these competitions.

CLAIRE EIANE

This summer season in New Hampshire has been filled with great experiences with the help of the Jeffie Foundation and my trainer, Alison Eastman. A few highlights and accomplishments were a first time at the Millbrook Horse Trials, a first successful competition with Jupiter at the modified level. We went to GMHA in September and it was fantastic. In just 13 months, Jupiter has advanced from a Beginner Novice horse to going around her first modified like a pro. I have also had a lot of fun helping two other horses advance, including Rudy and Shadow. I can’t wait for the winter season with Jupiter, Rudy and Shadow who will all be joining me in Aiken.

HANNAH STEC

Thanks to the support of the Jeffie Foundation, my horse Summer and I started our season with Huntington, then headed to the September GMHA at the novice level and came home with a pretty green ribbon and finished up the season at Course Brook in the fall and had a great time rocking around their awesome xc course. Along with lots of schooling outings and just overall having fun with Summer, the competitions were all a blast. I cannot wait to see what our winter will bring, planning to keep working hard as always and enjoying every second of it.

MEET OUR NEWEST GRANTEE

DEVIN WALEGA

My name is Devin and I am 19 years old. I live in Hollis, New Hampshire and I ride and work at Apple Tree Farm. I started working in exchange for riding lessons when I was 11 years old, taking any chance I could get to work and be with the horses. I am currently leasing an OTTB named Fern and competing at the beginner novice level. Fern and I competed in my first sanctioned event this year and we had so much fun! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us with the support of The Jeffie Foundation!
