Review the Arts & Culture drafts by July 13

As part of the Arts & Culture Policy Development project, the City gathered feedback from hundreds of community members on what arts and culture mean in Ventura.

Now is the time for the community to review the draft findings and summaries. Check out the latest draft documents on our website and provide feedback now through Monday, July 13!

Participate in Plastic Free July

This July, the City has partnered with Climate Conversations to invite you to join Choose Reuse Ventura—a fun, rewarding campaign to make Plastic Free July personal.

To participate, visit one of 6 local participating businesses and learn about their sustainability practices. Ask them how they're reducing waste, where they source responsibly, and what green choices they're making. Then make a purchase, take a class, or simply pledge to reduce single-use plastics in your daily life.

Short-Term Vacation Rental updates

The City has updated its Short-Term Vacation Rental (STVR) ordinance with two critical deadlines:

  • Existing Permit Holders: August 31, 2026, renewal deadline
  • New Applicants: July 13, 2026, application opening date

Key changes include new permit caps, parking requirements, and a new opportunity to legally rent rooms in your primary residence.

Downtown parking updates

The City is upgrading parking meters in Downtown Ventura. As part of this improvement project, old pay stations will be removed one block at a time and replaced with new stations. We appreciate your patience as we work to enhance the parking experience for all downtown visitors and businesses.

Once the new pay stations are fully activated, you'll have access to improved features including 90 minutes of complimentary parking, ParkMobile compatibility for tap-to-pay transactions, and more conveniently located payment kiosks.
