Dear Panther Parents,
The leaves are turning, quarter 1 has come to an end, and football weather is finally here!! I was so sad to see Dak get hurt last Sunday, but hopefully the Cowboys can still hang in there and have a decent season (though it has been a painful beginning).
Please remember to let Paula Lough know if you are changing your child’s instructional setting to or from virtual versus in-person. The deadline for making this change is TODAY and you can email Paula at email@example.com. First quarter grades will post in HAC next week.
For those starting on campus Monday, we have some extra supports in place to make sure everyone knows where to go and feels welcomed. Our PALS students will be in the entryway of the school and will have signs letting students know that they are helpers for the day. These students will “adopt” any of our kiddos who have never been on our campus before and they will show them around and make sure they get to their correct classes. Please make sure your child has a copy of the schedule so they remember what teacher to go to per period. If your child is feeling unsure about anything, please let them know they can go see the counselors or they can go to any of our offices and we will make sure they have what they need.
On October 20th @ 6:00 pm, we will have a VIRTUAL PTO Parent Night. The presentation features a local law firm who will present “Criminal Law 101: What Every Parent Needs to Know.” Please join us on the 20th at 6:00 by clicking on the following link for the Zoom presentation:
Meeting ID: 860 1558 5115
October 26th is a student holiday and a teacher professional development day.
October 27th-30th is Red Ribbon Week. We would love to see ALL our students participate: virtual and in-person. Let’s have some fun!! Don’t forget our “Scare Away Drugs” day on the 30th. We can’t wait to see all the costumes on our students. Please keep in mind the following expectations when choosing what to wear:
· No clowns
· Facial masks per COVID requirements must still be worn but no other masks will be permitted
· Must still be in dress code
· No blood or gore as part of the costume
· No weapons (real or fake) of ANY type
· Please make sure the costume is in good taste: if you are questioning that, it is probably not going to be acceptable
Laptop reminder: laptop fees are due before our Thanksgiving break. You can pay that through your HAC account. It is a yearly fee of $30 ($15 for Free and Reduced Lunch). Please remind your child that the laptop they have received is MISD property, but also remind them that this is the SAME LAPTOP they will have for 5 years. They really need to take care of those as they will not be switched out. You might want to consider buying a case for the device. 5 years is a long time, and we want to make sure your child’s device stays in good condition.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
