Summer Enrichment / Kids Korner News!

Image of Y Staff, Jaimie teaching swim lessons.
We are very excited for Jaimie as she transitions from her role within our Aquatics team to begin her career related to her college degree in Science & Psychology. Jaimie began working for the Y five years ago as a lifeguard while she was still in high school. Soon after she began at the Y, she joined our Swim Instructor team and has made a positive impact in the lives of hundreds of swimmers over the past 5 years. In March of 2020, Jaimie stepped up to a leadership role as Lifeguard Coordinator in addition to her shifts as Lifeguard and Swim Instructor. When Y Aquatic Director, Brye went on maternity leave in May of this year, Jaimie once again stepped up and has done an incredible job running the swim lesson program, coordinating lifeguards, coaching swim team and teaching lessons. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and energy that Jaimie has given to the Y Aquatics Community! Jaimie will continue in her currently role for the next few weeks and will be back with us part time evenings and weekends coaching and teaching private lessons. Thank you and Congratulations Jaimie!!!
Unfortunately, we have some sad news to share. We were just about to welcome Aquatic Director/Coach Brye back from her maternity leave but she has made the difficult decision to resign from her position at the Y. Brye's partner, Zach was involved in a motorcycle accident last week and as a result has a long recovery road ahead of him. With the demands of a newborn as well as being the full time care giver now for Zach, Brye's focus must be on her family. As you can imagine, these changes have created a mighty big gap in our Aquatics Department.

We are lucky to have some great staff team members who have agreed to step up and help for the short term, Mike (Coach, LG and Instructor) and Ryan (LG and Instructor). Thank you Mike & Ryan!

Our goal right now is to rebuild our Aquatics leadership team. Two full time positions are now posted. Aquatic Director/Head Swim Team Coach & Assistant Aquatic Director. Learn more

Team Member Tuesday
We are super proud to introduce Chloe who is working her 3rd summer at YMCA Camp Ingersoll. Chloe began coming to Camp as a Kiddy Camper and has been coming to Camp Ingersoll for 13 years and then decided to become a counselor. During her time as a CIT, Chloe always worked with Kiddies and Wees and gives credit to the counselor Emily who taught her everything she knows including amazing games, behavioral strategies and best ways to handle tough situations. Emily served as a mentor and helped Chloe prepare for her job interview. The CIT Director at the time, Matt also did a great job helping Chloe prepare to become the incredible counselor she is today!
“They are silly, goofballs and challenging but loving. It’s something new every day. There’s always a fun element of surprise when in conversation with a 3 or 4 year old camper. I’ve learned so much and love every minute of my time with them. This job has taught me so much about myself and how I respond to certain situations and about my strengths and weaknesses. Knowing what I know now will help me so much in my future. I’m also inspired by Zoe who works here at camp. Watching her work as a counselor and then transition to work as a behavior specialist has been a huge source of inspiration.”
In the Fall, Chloe will head to her freshman year at Western New England University to study psychology with the hopes to become an art therapist one day.
We are very grateful, that Chloe found her way to the Y! Visit https://www.midymca.org/work-at-the-y to learn more about career opportunities at the Middlesex Y! #teammembertuesday #MidYmca #shoutout #Yfamily #Ystaff
We are super proud to introduce Caroline who is working her 6th summer at YMCA Camp Ingersoll. Caroline came to Ingersoll with her highschool for a team building event. A fellow cheerleader who had been a CIT at Ingersoll encouraged Caroline to work at camp. She told Caroline that “camp is the best place ever and you just have to work there!”.
Over the past 6 years, Caroline has worked with a variety of groups including: Aqua Camp, Color Games Camp, Middle Girls, Younger Boys, Boating Director and currently working as the coordinator for the Middles age group.
Caroline shared her thoughts about working at camp, “I just love camp because it is such a community of people. They embrace each other in every way, shape and form. Kids get to be here and do everything they love including making connections with people and having a great time which is what summer is all about.”
In May, Caroline graduated with her Masters degree in secondary education and will be moving to Spain in September to teach English.
We are very grateful, that Caroline found her way to the Y! Visit https://www.midymca.org/work-at-the-y to learn more about career opportunities at the Middlesex Y! #teammembertuesday #MidYmca #shoutout #Yfamily #Ystaff #positive
