Autumn Pet Photo Contest
October 11-October 30
Send us photos of your pet to enter this contest! They can be enjoying the fall weather, dressed up for Halloween, or doing anything funny or cute. Library staff will vote on their favorite entries and the winner will receive a small prize. Submit your entries to kspringer@acornlibrary.org by Saturday, October 30th.
Author in the Spotlight: Chris Bohjalian

Creatures of the Night

Learn about nocturnal animals!  This program features one night time creature in particular, the owl.  After learning about an owl’s unique eating habits, you’ll dissect an owl pellet to reveal what your owl ate. Registration begins two weeks prior, ending when full. Bachelor's Grove: A Study in Hauntings and Folklore

Virtual on Zoom
Learn about the history of Bachelor's Grove and how it went from a small settlement to being labeled as one of the most haunted locations in Illinois. This presentation will also cover how paranormal experiences at Bachelor's Grove relate to other themes found in hauntings and folklore, from the Woman in White to lights in the woods. Outdoor Halloween
Escape Room
Begins Friday, October 1 through Saturday, October 30
Stop by the Adult Services desk to receive a list of clues that will lead you to different locations outside of the library. Each location will have a puzzle for you to solve. Write the answers on your clue sheet and return them to the Adult Services desk when you are done. For each correct answer, you will earn a raffle ticket for a prize drawing.
Halloween Book Haunt Reading Program

For Kids & Teens
Sign up in the Youth Services Department and get a haunted house reading log! Read in at least three rooms of your house and return your decorated haunted house coloring sheet to the Youth Services Desk for a prize!

You can reset it in our catalog by clicking on My Account and then Forgot PIN. If you are still having trouble please call 708-687-3700.

Can I make meeting room reservations?
Yes! Room reservations will begin again on June 1.

Can I donate my used books?
The Friends of the Acorn Library began accepting gently used book and media donations again on February 1. These books are used in the book store, and are the primary fundraising method of the Friends of the Library. Thank you for your support.
