Welcome to Fall 2023!

Hello CBS,

Welcome to our CBS Aggies in the classes of 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027!

As the leadership for undergraduate education in CBS, we are thrilled to join others across campus in welcoming you to fall quarter 2023 via the Deans' News and Announcements (or, The DNA).

Whether you are in your first year, or your final one at UC Davis (or you're somewhere in between) there's much to do in the months ahead! With that in mind, here are three tickets to your success:

#1: Take Advantage of Office Hours

Your instructors have details about office hours in their course syllabuses or Canvas sites. Your faculty and TAs provide these office hours to answer your questions, guide your curiosity and help you engage with course materials. Don't let them sit in an empty office. Take your questions and go early and often!

#2: Use the BASC!

When you have questions about your academic programfrom your schedule to planning or completing your degree requirementsgo to the Biology Academic Success Center (BASC)! BASC offers comprehensive advising for all CBS undergraduates and is your one-stop resource. They offer regular appointments, express advising, and in-person or Zoom options to meet your needs.

#3: Get Involved

Whether you get connected to research in a class or a lab, engage in internship opportunities, participate in the CBS Mentor Collective, or join one of the many CBS student clubs, these are your opportunities to build connections, find your passions, form study groups, and immerse yourself in the undergraduate experience. You'll find more details about these opportunities on the CBS websiteand here in The DNA.

In the meantime, have a great fall quarter & Go Ags!
