Food & Philanthropy:

A Perfect Pairing

On Friday the 13th, the weather was perfect at Trenton-Mercer Airport for PEI Kids' 16th Annual Wine & Food Tasting. Hundreds of friends, guests, and supporters came out to sip, swirl, and taste for a great cause.

This signature event brings together the entire community including 16 local restaurants, 24 sponsors, more than a dozen event partners, and corporate volunteer teams including Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Bloomberg, and Bristol Myers Squib.

This year's highly stylized event included exotic cars from InterState Motorsport -- Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches -- which guests were welcome to try on for fun! Private aircraft on display were donated by Infinity Flight; and the amazing space at the East Hangar was courtesy of Signature Flight Support. We'd like to especially acknowledge and thank BuyRite Wine & Liquor which arranged for donation of all the wines and supported our Beer Alley along with Alternate Ending Beer Co. Please support them and our restaurant partners all year long.

P.S.: This event was a feast for the stomach and the eyes, so be sure to check out the photo gallery below!

Roadtrippp!

Last month, we closed out another fantastic season of Summer programming thanks to generous funding support from Princeton Area Community Foundation (PACF) and The Smith Family Foundation. Summer program participants -- students from Holland, Dunn, and MLK Jr. Middle Schools and Foundation Academy -- benefitted from day trips that included educational, cultural, and recreational excursions while integrating traditional components of our evidence-based curriculum.

"At this key developmental stage, as students prepare to enter 9th grade, learning critical social and life skills combined with exposure to new experiences can be transformative and really set youth up for success," explained Program Director, Rob Fiorello.

Our summer participants welcomed opportunities to collaborate with peers from different areas and backgrounds while building new skills in effective communication, quality decision-making, emotional regulation, conflict management, even dining etiquette!

Check out photos from some of the summer fun!

Join us in welcoming PEI Kids' newest Board Trustee, Ravi Govindaruju. Ravi is Managing Director/Head of Product at JPMorgan Chase with extensive experience in executive management, finance and strategic planning. He is also the proud father of a 7-week-old baby girl.

Congratulations, Ravi!

In August, Executive Director, Roz Dashiell, was invited to speak with Senator Cory Booker and the consortium of New Jersey's urban mayors at Senator Booker's Community Violence Intervention Summit.

Check out NJN Spotlight News' coverage of the Summit here. (PEI Kids is mentioned at 3:09!)

This month, members of our clinical team completed PSB-CBT-A training. That's Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Adolescents. Training in this evidence-based modality was offered as part of the statewide initiative to provide services to reduce the risk of problematic sexual behavior among teens. PEI Kids will launch this new counseling program in 2024.
