Fall Season is here!

We have a lot to cover throughout September's newsletter; refs, fundraiser, sponsors and more.

Message From The Director

With fall seasons underway for all but the high school girls teams, here are a couple important reminders for people on the sidelines.

Please make sure you are not coaching from the sidelines or being a critic to any players. It is most important to be supportive and giving encouragement to our players. For coaching advice, the players need to hear the voice of the coach.

In addition, please make sure to respect the referees. We all know we will not agree with all of their calls, but it is important to make sure we are being respectful with our comments. We have had several years where there were not enough referees to work all of the games in a particular weekend and parents and coaches had to referee the games. Much work has gone into recruiting and training new referees so that there is a workforce to accommodate the large need. One of the main reasons people do not want to be a ref is due to verbal abuse and insults. Please try to be more positive examples to our kids in how to treat people and deal with calls that do not go our way.

Through club soccer and any youth sport, we can have more positive experiences, outcomes, and impact on our players and community as a whole if we remember how to act properly on the sidelines!

Age group changes coming next season

Families, please keep in mind that US Club Soccer, along with other youth soccer governing bodies, are changing age-group dates beginning with the 2026–27 season. Starting next season, players will be grouped by birth dates occurring Aug. 1–July 31, rather than the current calendar-year system, which groups players with birth dates Jan. 1–Dec. 31.

Fall field scheduling

The Club has secured additional field space so all teams will have training twice a week this fall. The additional field space is not always at our preferred locations, and there are a few weeks where some teams may have a Friday training in place of one of their regular days. Thanks to families for your understanding!

Save the date for the Club's Fall Social/Fundraiser Event: Oct.10th

Please mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 10, and plan to join fellow Club parents, coaches, staff and friends to socialize and raise money for our Bobby Howe Scholarship Fund. Please consider donating a bottle of wine (value $20–$50) for a Wine Pull fundraiser at the event; email marketing@emeraldcityfc.org to coordinate your wine donation. More event details to come!
