Trapped Team?
What the heck is a "trapped team"? A trapped team is a team of eighth graders — "trapped" players — whose teammates are ninth graders and in high school, and therefore eligible to play high school soccer. For this coming spring, players on Emerald City's M11 teams who are eighth graders will have the opportunity to play in the spring trapped league. But... with the age-group change coming next season (2026–27 season), this will be the *last* trapped season.
Age group changes coming next season
Families, please keep in mind that US Club Soccer, along with other youth soccer governing bodies, are changing age-group dates beginning with the 2026–27 season. Starting next season, players will be grouped by birth dates occurring Aug. 1–July 31, rather than the current calendar-year system, which groups players with birth dates Jan. 1–Dec. 31.
Bring a friend to practice! (supplemetal tryouts)
Supplemental tryouts: Do you know a player or family interested in Emerald City soccer? The Club plans to hold supplemental tryouts the first week of January 2026, to add players where needed to existing teams/age groups. Current players do not try out; this is for new interested players. Please alert your club-soccer-curious networks! More details to come.
Save the date for the Club's Fall Social/Fundraiser Event: Oct.10th
Please mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 10 7-9pm @ St. Andrew Pub, and plan to join fellow Club parents, coaches, staff and friends to socialize and raise money for our Bobby Howe Scholarship Fund. Looking forward to a fabulous night!
