Good Morning,

It is with great pleasure I share that the Special Olympics Iowa fall sports season will include in-person competitions for most sports!

The fall competition season will look different from a pre-covid year because while we are doing everything we can to bring in-person competitions back, our main focus continues to be the health and safety of every member of the Special Olympics Iowa community. Special Olympics Iowa will be holding a state equestrian competition, modified area bowling events, and modified regional flag football skills events. There will be no volleyball competition this year.

Coaches and delegation managers should watch for an email from the Special Olympics Iowa Sports and Programs staff with more detailed information about fall sports competitions in the coming days. Athletes and Unified partners, please go to your coaches and delegation managers with any questions surround fall sports and competitions.

As we move into our fall sports season, Special Olympics Iowa is rolling out updated guidance for return to in-person activities. The new guidelines reflect the latest information on COVID-19 and should be used in conjunction with local guidance.

The updated guidelines can be viewed here:

I look forward to seeing many of you in person soon!
