Dear CVCA Parents,

Thanks for your continued support of CVCA Athletics. Those of you with athletes know that we started many of our fall sports on August 1. Historically, this has been an important date as the official start of fall sports. We would like to communicate with you a few important details as things are constantly changing. Our plan is to continue to move forward slowly and cautiously with fall sports, and be sure that we are being mindful of the safety and well-being of our athletes and coaches. Our stringent protocols will remain in place going forward as they pertain to the COVID-19 guidelines.

Please know that we have been in regular communication with both the local and state health departments, as well as the OHSAA when making decisions regarding the fall sports season. Our hope is that these organizations might align more closely in their recommendations. However, as it stands today in an ever changing landscape, the following is our current plan for each of our fall sports.

*Please note that because Soccer and Football are considered “contact” sports they are not allowed to participate in school vs. school competitions at this time.

Low/Non-Contact Sports (Golf, Girls Tennis, Volleyball, Cross Country)
  • Official practices started on Saturday, August 1.
  • School vs. school scrimmages and/or contests will follow per the normal OHSAA permissible dates and regulations.
  • Golf: 1 scrimmage permitted any time during season; first contest August 5
  • Girls Tennis: 1 scrimmage permitted after practice begins and prior to first match; first contest August 7
  • Volleyball: Scrimmages and 1 preview permitted after practice begins; first contest Aug. 21.
  • Cross Country: Normal acclimatization period in place for cross country

Football
  • Official practices started on Saturday, August 1 with the normal acclimatization period in place.
  • No school vs. school scrimmages are permitted this year.
  • School vs. school contests will follow per their normal OHSAA permissible dates and regulations with a target date of the week of Monday, August 24

Soccer
  • Practices started on Saturday, August 1 with the normal acclimatization period in place.
  • No school vs. school scrimmages are permitted this year.
  • School vs. school contests will follow per their normal OHSAA permissible dates and regulations with a target date of Friday, August 21.

Once again, it is our desire to keep the health and safety of our athletes and coaches as a key focus of decisions in moving forward. We thank our administrators, coaches, and athletes for working together at this rather unprecedented time. We are hopeful that we can continue to offer athletic activities for our students as long as everyone continues to adhere to the guidelines that have been put in place. We want to thank you for your continued partnership and support. We will be sure to communicate any new information we receive in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead.

Go Royals!
