Indoor Training
As many of you know, we are cleared to train indoors at JCC. See below for a list of all training that is currently scheduled or click the link below to see our Calendar.
Group Lessons
Throughout the fall, we will offer training on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm - 8:30pm. This training will be conducted in a Group Lesson format which simulates many game-like situations. This will also maximize opportunities to train on all skills and ensure all athletes receive maximum court time. Each athlete will be assigned to a court with other athletes of similar age and skill level. This training will run through Thanksgiving.

Cost: $50 for 2 hours
Setter Training
Calling all Setters! Come join Coach Ciara Schultz for intense and in-depth drills geared at developing and improving your setting. Younger players will receive basic instruction and multiple reps while older and more experienced players will learn the finer details on becoming a top-level setter!

Ciara holds numerous setting records at Oakland University where she started for 4 years; she is the Team D Setter Coach as well as our 14-Red Coach.

COVID-19 Protocols
As you can imagine, COVID-19 has forced us to alter our normal procedures for now. We are committed to following all guidelines as published by the CDC, State of Michigan, USAV, and AAU. When you register for tryouts, you will be asked to sign our COVID-19 waiver. Please read it carefully before signing. Also, please read below to see what we are doing and follow all instructions to help us comply with all necessary guidelines:

  1. There are NO drop-in's! We must plan and account for all individuals who enter JCC. All athletes MUST pre-register online. If you show up at JCC and you are not registered for that day, we will either need you to go online to register immediately or we will turn you away.
  2. Parents are NOT allowed in the facility. We must abide by strict occupancy numbers and track every individual who enters JCC.
  3. We plan to do all registration stations in the lower parking lot (near the soccer field) prior to entering the building. We will have a few stations there to help ensure social distancing and rapid registration as we process athletes into the gym.
  4. Everyone who enters JCC (coaches and athletes) must submit to a non-contact temperature check and be symptom free. Anyone who is not symptom free or has been in contact with a COVID-19 person will be denied entry.
  5. Everyone who enters JCC must wear a mask. Coaches will wear a mask at all times. Athletes will be allowed to remove their mask during the tryout.
  6. All athletes must bring their own water bottle that is clearly marked as their own. We will discourage the use of the water fountain and restrooms in the building so please plan accordingly. Restrooms and water fountains are available for emergency situations.
  7. Team Detroit VBC has 2 staff members who are CDC certified contact tracers. Their job will be to monitor all persons who enter JCC and will notify all appropriate parties if anyone is in contact with another person who tests positive for COVID-19.
  8. All Coaches at Team Detroit VBC will test for COVID-19 and will only be allowed into JCC once their negative test results are verified.
  9. At the end of the tryout, all athletes will be escorted by a coach to exit the building and will be supervised until their departure. Please plan for a timely drop-off and pick up. Do not come early or late (i.e. more than 10 minutes).
  10. Team Detroit VBC will sanitize all equipment and areas before and after each training session. We will limit each athlete's exposure by limiting interactions with others, maintaining social distancing as much as possible at all times, eliminating huddles and unnecessary contacts, and have hand sanitizer available.
