Autism Awareness Walk to Nassan's Place New Home

Autism Awareness Walk to Nassan's Place held on Sunday, 9/22/19 was a historical day for Nassan's Place and the City of Newark as the Honoarble Mayor Ras J. Baraka and the City of Newark gifted Nassan's Place with our first home.

It will be a state of the art Autism Center providing programs and services to children and families affected by Autism in and around the City of Newark.

Families will no longer have to leave their community to receive much needed programs and services for their children.

Autism Awareness Walk to Nassan's Place" was a day filled with community unity, music, giveaways, resources, massages, facepainting and fun for the whole family.

Nassan's Place children participate in New Jersey Kids Fashion Week

For the last three years, Nassan's Place children have taken to the runway and participated in New Jersey Kids Fashion Week. 

Nassan's Place would like to "Thank" the founder of New Jersey Kids Fashion Week , Josie Payoute for giving children affected by Autism the same opportunities as any other kid and for including them in a wonderful and memorable event and experience.

Children affected by Autism can do anything any other child can do if just given the opportunity.

The honorees included Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Assemblywoman Britnee N. Timberlake, East Orange Councilman Bergson Leneus, Vanguard Theater Company, Gerald Murphy, Thomas Massarelli, PHD and SPLASH, Nike Newark Store, The Mighty, Mighty HII Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and Autism Mom of the Year, Dena Russell.

The evening which was hosted by Toya Beasley included inspirational stories, great food, music provided by Lynette Sheard and DC Fusion, silent auction and vendors.
Annual Masquerade Celebration in conjunction with the Orange Elks Lodge #135 and Social Behavior Learning Soution

Nassan's Place hosted our "Annual Masquerade Celebration in conjunction with the Orange Elks Lodge and Social Behavioral Learning Solutions on 10/27/19.

Children and families affected by Autism enjoyed a fun filled day of music, food, face-painting, giveaways, surprises and sensory friendly activities provided by Social Behaviorial Learning Solutions. 

Thank you to the Orange Elks Lodge, Social Learning Behavoiral Solutions, Brick4Kidz and all that supported, donated and shared their resources.
Sensory Friendly Movie Day
at CityPlex12

Children, families and friends enjoyed our "Sensory Friendly Movies Days" in September and October to watch the animated movies:

"The Abominable"
&
"The Addams Family"

Complete with popcorn, drink and fruit snack all for $7 pr person.

Nassan's Place "Sensory Friendly Movie Days" also gives our families the opportunity to not only see a great movie for an affordable cost in a sensory friendly and carefree environment but they also get to connect with other families living with and affected by Autism just like them.

Nassan's Place President & Founder honored by Determine to Educate (DTE)

Nassan's Place president and founder, Nadine Wright-Arbubakrr was amongst the honorees being honored by Determine to Educate for the work that Nassan’s Place is providing to children and families affected by Autism on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at “Determined to Educate “ 11th Annual Awards Fundraising Gala” in NYC.

Previous, honorees have included, Susan L. Taylor, founder of National Cares Mentoring Movement and Editor in Chief Emerita of Essence magazine, actress Phylicia Rashad and music sensation, Valerie Simpson, Omari Hardwick of “Power”, Mike Bivins of New Edition & BBD, JB Smoove and Wyclef Jean just to name a few.
