SPRYE Hosts the

Maestro's Daughter


In early February, Jamie Bernstein spoke before an enthusiastic group at the Crawford Manor in Rye Brook, New York.


The author discussed her

book Famous Father Girl,

the Oscar-nominated movie "Maestro," and

her life growing up as the daughter of the famous composer Leonard Bernstein



More than 80 people gathered to hear Ms. Bernstein recall anecdotes about her parents, music, and her father's legacy.

Edgar Allen Poe Visits Rye


Edgar Allen Poe, (aka Campbell Harmon) offered up a dramatic performance of the "Raven" and "The Tell-Tale Heart" before a rapt audience at Rye Presbyterian Church on October 30th.


Harmon's historic re-enactment kept more than 50 people in the audience spellbound.


Perhaps a return visit on Halloween this year?

Rich Malloy

Helps Explain New Technology


Rich Malloy, Adjunct Professor of Internet Technology at Norwalk Community College, helped explain Artificial Intelligence, Chat, and other emerging tools to an afternoon group at the Rye Free Reading Room in February.

Appreciation Group


SPRYE 's growing Art Appreciation Group visited the Canfin Gallery in Tarrytown and the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut.

SPRYE member Arthur Stampleman was the docent for the first trip to the newly renovated museum, and former SPRYE administrative assistant Margie McCabe led the second group the following week.

After the tour, the group enjoyed lunch across the street at Sweet Grass Grill and discussed their favorite pieces.

Movie Club


Winter is the best time to go to the movies and snack on popcorn and watch potentially award-winning films.


In the fall and winter, the Movie Club attended "Maestro," "Boys in the Boat," "Golda," and "Past Lives."

Culinary Cafe and Returned for

Seconds!

The food prepared by students attending the Westchester Community College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management School was so delicious

that SPRYE returned twice to the Culinary Cafe.

The Briarcliff Manor Banned Book Committee

traveled to Rye in January to discuss the history

of banned books and encouraged local readers

to fight censorship.

SPRYE Keeps Everyone in Their Hearts


Rye High School student Ollie Bisogni stopped by Paul and Barbara Hick's house in Rye to give them a Valentine's treat in February.


SPRYE's dedicated team of volunteers delivered the treats on Valentine's Day.


MTD Cakes in Pleasantville, New York, created the confectionery treats.

SPRYE Receives Funding for "Recreation For All"

Program at Rye Manor

The funds will be used to offer engaging and interesting programs and activities for residents who reside at Rye Manor on Theall Road.
