October Beekeeping Tips
As temperatures drop, egg laying in the hive decreases significantly, often stopping altogether this month. Bees typically begin forming their winter cluster when temperatures hit around 50°F, which usually happens mid-month. On warmer days, they may still venture out in search of food, but with colder weather settling in, it's important to ensure your hive has adequate feed.
We offer Pro-Sweet and winter pollen patties to help support your bees through the season.
As you prepare for winter, don't forget to remove extra supers and queen excluders, secure the hive cover, and get ready to insulate. We also carry Bee Cozy items for added protection.
