Whether your Hendersonville drive takes you along the famed Blue Ridge Parkway north of town, down Apple Alley with farms and fields full of fruit, or through historic neighborhoods with stately homes and lush landscaping, you’ll find fall foliage showing off these next couple of months.
Countryside cabins allow you to lose yourself among the leaves, while downtown bed-and-breakfasts make it easy to take a sidewalk stroll. It’s difficult to pinpoint the specific date or week of peak leaf color, which changes each year depending on the temperature and amount of rain, but Hendersonville’s moderate climate means leaves change gradually. Beginning in late September and stretching through October, pops of color dot mountainsides and roadways.

Did you know that the Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO was the first inland aquarium in North Carolina? While you might not expect to find sharks, rays and sea horses on Main Street, they’re some of downtown’s most popular residents.
The aquarium is open to the public in the afternoons on Wednesday-Saturday. Stop by at 1:30 on weekdays and 12:30 or 3 on Saturdays to watch staff members climb into the tank to feed the sharks and rays.

Last Chance! See the bears before they find new homes
