Massachusetts will soon be ablaze with gorgeous tones of gold, rust, and yellow setting a radiant backdrop for your fall activities. It’s that time of year for apple picking, pumpkin patches, long leisurely scenic drives, farmers markets, fall fairs and festivals, and oh-so-delectable apple cider donuts. You’ll find amazing foliage all across the Commonwealth so don’t miss a minute! The season starts in mid-to-late September and peak colors often appear by mid-October. On September 20–22, enjoy FreshGrass at MASS MoCA! Set against the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire mountains, FreshGrass is a family-friendly festival with the best in bluegrass and roots music filling the fields, courtyards, and galleries of MASS MoCA — the largest contemporary art museum in the country (gallery admission included with all tickets!). Along with world premieres, emerging artist competitions, farm-fresh food, local brews, and pop-up jam sessions, this is three days of festival magic produced in partnership by MASS MoCA, the FreshGrass Foundation, and No Depression.

Fall fun in Plymouth County includes King Richard’s Faire! Hundreds of performers, artisans, rides & games, 8 stages, one mud pit. Weekends August 31-October 20, including Monday holidays September 2nd and October 14th. Experience craft brews, scenic splendor and historic significance at Mayflower Waterfront Beer Garden at the Hedge House! Mayflower will be pouring draft beer, hard seltzer, High Limb Cider, and two wines on Fridays & Saturdays in September. At the Hingham Historic House Tour on September 29, explore six private homes once occupied by American Revolutionary War Patriots. Each of the private homes featured on the tour were built before 1775.

While it’s always bittersweet to see the summer end, our hope is that the warm weather will continue right into the fall, when the Berkshires becomes a magical palette of crimson, orange, and yellow. Make this the year you come for the foliage, and experience the excitement of the 68th Annual Fall Foliage Parade in North Adams! This year’s theme is Berk du Soleil - The Greatest Show in North Berkshire, a fun take on the popular Cirque du Soleil, and we are pulling out all the stops!. The Parade will be held Sunday, October 6 at 1 pm, featuring floats, bands, and marching units from across Berkshire County!

The Lowell Kinetic Sculpture Race 2024 is set for Saturday, September 21 from 9 am to 4 pm! Kinetic Sculptures are all-terrain, human-powered, art sculptures, engineered to race over road, water, mud and sand. Kinetic sculptures are amazing works of art; many are animated with moving parts like blinking eyes, opening mouths, heads that move side to side and up and down. These machines of art are usually made from what some people consider “junk” or better put, recycled materials. Each kinetic team has a theme and consist of pilots, pit crew and support crew. Spectators are encouraged to either watch from the sidelines or follow the race on their bikes!
