Pre-Conference - St Louis Arch Experience

We have an NAEA exclusive opportunity to see and learn all about St Louis’ landmark, the Arch. Join us at 8 AM in the lobby to walk to the Arch. From there we will meet with the National Park District before the Arch opens for the day. We will then travel up to the top of the Arch. (Tickets are very hard to come by if you do not pre-order.) After our trip up, the Arch educational staff have developed programming for us that will give you insight into the Arch, the museum, and all the FREE virtual educational offerings provided by the National Park District. We end at 11 and will provide lunch in the Arch museum.

You will
  • see the Arch and learn about the Arch like know one else,
  • get free resources to take back to your schools
  • and even receive lunch.

Yumminess in St. Louis!

Downtown St. Louis has many easily accessible inexpensive restaurants with absolutely delicious inexpensive food.
Here are some recommendations from NAEA Board members.

One of your meals in St Louis must be at Sugarfire. The food there is UNBELIEVABLE and inexpensive. It is just caddy-cornered from the conference hotel. That's the Big Muddy pictured. You can also order sides, like the green beans, coleslaw, or tater tots if you are not much of a meat eater. You can't miss this gastronomic experience! Sugarfire has daily specials, and they sell 'til they run out. - Dr. Amy

The Over/Under Bar & Grill is a "Don't Miss".
They are also just a few minutes walk from the conference hotel. The Mac & Cheese is exceptional. Get it with bacon!
Or try a St. Louis specialty, Fried Ravioli!
Another yum is Sauce on the Side. It is right around the corner from the hotel entrance. Sauce on the Side is a delicious lunch or dinner option offering a variety of fresh salads with house dressings and shareable sized calzones! Moderately priced.
- NAEA President Kathleen
This YUMMY dessert is called: Ooey Gooey Butter Cake. The main flavor is Mom's Traditional, but they usually have up to eight different flavors. They also have mixes that you can buy to TAKE HOME the tradition. The Park Avenue Coffee - Downtown St. Louis is RIGHT BEHIND THE HOTEL. Just a few minutes walk, and you can have YUMMY Ooey Gooey Butter Cake and local coffee.
