Maker faire is coming to the Fleet

The Fleet is excited to be participating in the "Greatest Show and Tell on Earth" when Maker Faire San Diego returns to Balboa Park on October 7 and 8. This third annual event will feature the most creative and resourceful people in San Diego showing off their ideas. The Fleet will host over 20 different Makers in our upstairs gallery and theater lobby, including robots, smart electronics and more. Come join us!
More science and engineering festivals

After Maker Faire is over, the Fleet will host two more science and engineering festivals later in October! On October 14, the Engineering Festival will feature  interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities with local engineering organizations, as well as screenings of Dream Big every other hour during the festival. On October 21, at the Augmented and Virtual Reality Festival you will get to experience the AR and VR technologies that are currently being used for education, medical science and more.
Spooky halloween science

Halloween presents all sorts of fun and spooky ways to explore science. You can learn about movie special effects at 52 Weeks of Science, explore the science behind "magic potions" at our Weekend Science Clubs, create floating ghosts in the Tinkering Studio or enjoy a whole day of fun throughout Balboa Park on Halloween Family Day.

The holidays will soon be upon us! If you have a seasonal party or personal soiree to plan, the Fleet's 100+ hands-on exhibits will make your event a hit. Plus, if you book your celebration by October 31, you will receive a 50% discount on equipment rentals and members save an additional 10%. Science education programs for teachers

The Fleet and five other Balboa Park institutions will be hosting a special three-night Educator Open House to give educators a chance to discover all the park has to offer for students and teachers. Other opportunities for educators this month at the Fleet include a workshop for exploring STEM in nature and an astronomy lesson before our monthly planetarium show. Advance registration is required.
