At Donna Marchetti Design we are "back to school" and gearing up for the fall fairs and impending holidays.

As the weather turns cooler, what better way to usher in fall than at beautiful Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. And what better way to usher in the fall season than attending the wearable art fashion show and boutique hosted by the Textile Art Alliance.

I'm looking forward to these shows as they make me feel part of a greater good. Both institutions celebrate the arts, education and preservation.

Hope to see you soon at one of these wonderful celebrations of the arts.

About Stan Hywet
 Hall & Gardens

A love of gardens created a welcoming entrance to the estate and acres of inspiration.

In 1898, F.A. Seiberling founded The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, naming it after Charles Goodyear, the inventor of the vulcanization process for rubber. It soon became the world's largest rubber company and the City of Akron became the "Rubber Capital of the World."

As Goodyear was on the rise, F.A. Seiberling and his wife Gertrude needed more space for their family to gather and grow. The answer was Stan Hywet Hall and it was virtually the house that rubber built.

Stan Hywet, is Old English for stone quarry, the property's most prominent natural feature. The estate became a beacon of progress hosting well known figures in music, the arts and politics.

The collections and furnishings in the Manor House are all original to the estate which includes five historic buildings and eight gardens on 70 acres.  In 1957 the siblings gifted Stan Hywet to the Akron community.

Built between 1912 and 1915, Stan Hywet Hall was one of the finest examples of the American Country Estate movement, which flourished during the Industrial Age.
