Home Garden Harvesting Tips
Check Your Garden Daily
It’s important to check your garden every day. If you don’t check your garden daily, you could miss out on produce, and you might also be leaving produce to rot in your garden. This draws pests which means your garden could quickly become overtaken with a disease. Also, keep in mind, if you pick your plants when they first ripen it encourages the plants to produce more in most cases.

Pick Small
Have you ever gone to pick zucchini and discovered a vegetable the size of a football? That’s not ideal. Don’t wait until your vegetables grow too big. It is best to pick produce when it’s small. This is the time the majority of vegetable varieties are at their most tender, have better flavor, and haven’t developed as many seeds.
For zucchini specifically, it’s best to pick them when they’re around six inches long. That may not look very big, but if your plant is producing at the usual rate, you’ll have plenty to eat and share.

Be Gentle
Vegetables can be easily bruised, so it’s important to gently pick them and place them in a basket or bucket. Aside from appearance, if you bruise the skin of the product, it can accelerate rot, which shortens the lifespan of the vegetable once it’s harvested. Make sure you use a large enough basket or bucket so you’re not cramming your vegetables into the container, trying to make them all fit, which can also result in bruising.

Check for Disease
When you’re harvesting it’s also a good time to check the health of your plants. In particular, check the leaves to see if there are any spots or discoloration. These could be symptoms of a disease or pest. Inspecting as you harvest can ensure continued abundance.

Don’t be Unrealistic
When you grow your own vegetables, you will soon notice that they often don’t look exactly like the ones in the grocery store. For one thing, your produce may not be as large. Don’t wait to harvest thinking your vegetables need to look like those grown by professional farmers. They may become rotten before you get to harvest them.

Next time you need a bit of a break, come and lose yourself in the beauty of all the flowers in the many little gardens of PaSu.
Fresh From The Garden
Organic apples are now available in limited quantities. They sell quickly, so let us know soon if you would like some. Chard, onions and potatoes are also selling quickly.

Parsnips, beets and carrots will be available after the first frost. We wait for the first frost to harvest because that enhances the sugar content of these delectable delights, which really brings out their flavour.

You can’t get any more organic than PaSu produce. There are only four elements that go into the production of our vegetables – water, soil, rain and sheep manure. We use no fertilizers, sprays or chemicals. Boy are they ever delicious!

You can purchase these wonderful items for a limited time, and also appreciate them as part of your meal in the Restaurant. Enjoy them soon!
Fresh Eggs
Did you know that in the PaSu Boutique you can also purchase what our hens proudly call the finest eggs in southern Alberta?  The shells are a beautiful golden rich brown, and the yokes are a dark, velvety yellow – almost orange. This is a result of the extraordinary lifestyle our free-range chickens enjoy. We only produce about 2½ dozen eggs per day, so it’s best to order ahead if you would like a dozen or two.
Wool Dryer Ball Felting Kits
Looking for something fun and creative to do? Our wool dryer ball felting kits have proven to be a popular pastime, especially in these Covid days. Both the kits and the felted dryer balls make excellent gifts. And for just $14.95, they’re quite affordable, too.
Woolly Witticisms

We have no idea how many sheep we have at PaSu. That’s because every time we try to count them, we fall asleep!
Sheep Shots
Our awesome Ovis Aries. Truly outstanding in their field.
Revive Your Ride!

And relieve your rear!
When it’s time to hit the road, do it in comfort!

Our lambskin shearlings are also known as medical sheepskins and are shorn to an even pile of one inch. They allow the circulation of air and wick away moisture to make biking much more comfortable.

They are also used in car seats and any place where comfort is important. Washing instructions are included.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery on your ride out to PaSu, stay for a perfectly relaxed lunch, and ride back on the luxurious comfort of sheepskin.
