February is here! Get inspired by nature with our Tot Trot Nature Walks or Museum in the Parks programs. General admission to the Florida Museum is FREE, although donations are gladly accepted. There is a cover charge for the Butterfly Rainforest and special exhibits like Antarctic Dinosaurs!

Antarctic Dinosaurs


On display through April 21, 2024

Step back in time and discover life beneath the ice in Antarctic Dinosaurs. Today, Antarctica is a forbidding land of snow and ice but 200 million years ago it was a lush, wooded habitat where dinosaurs thrived. Uncover the history of the world’s southernmost continent and the unique species that have called it home in this interactive, family-friendly experience!

Black in Natural History Museums Scavenger Hunt


FREE Limited Time Exhibit


Seventeen profiles located around the museum showcase the contributions of Black researchers, exhibit designers and curators over 300 years across eight fields of study. Each profile is located in an exhibit relating to their field of study.

Celebrate ‘International Women and Girls in Science Day’ with hands-on activities and experiments during this FREE program open to everyone.


In 2015, the United Nations selected Feb. 11 as 'International Women and Girls in Science Day' in order to further advance gender equality and encourage more female participation in science. Join us for a day full of activities and conversation with a variety of scientists!

Protecting rare butterflies of Florida’s pine flats and prairies


Rachel Walsh, a Ph.D. student with our McGuire Center, recently trekked out into the wet prairies of the Apalachicola National Forest in search of the Loammi skipper, Atrytonopsis loammi. It once lived throughout a good deal of the Southeastern U.S. but is now absent from much of its original range. Read more
