Enjoy Fall with Your Friends @ the Library

Debra Rhodes Gibson, Library Director

St. Johns County Public Library System

Welcome to fall and a new format for the SJCPLS electronic newsletter! We recently migrated to this new “look” and hope you enjoy the colorful themes and interconnectivity with the library’s website within each monthly edition. Share the information with your friends and family, and encourage them to subscribe, too!

And, speaking of friends… October 17-23, 2021, is the 16th annual National Friends of Libraries Week and the perfect opportunity to give our 7 Friends of the Library groups a big shout-out for all they do to make a difference in the SJCPLS libraries every single day!

October 17-23 is National Friends of the Library Week and the perfect time for us to give our Friends a huge shout-out! SJCPLS would not be able to accomplish half of what we do without the help from these generous community members who volunteer their time and work so hard on our behalf. Our Friends help raise funds for programming, library renovations, new technology purchases, and more. Want to learn more about our awesome Friends of the Library groups? October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

Each year, October is recognized worldwide as Dyslexia Awareness Month, a time to come together to raise awareness, share resources, and tell stories about dyslexia successes. SJCPLS is proud to share helpful library resources for people with dyslexia, such as the dyslexic font option in OverDrive and Libby. Standard typefaces are often difficult to read for people with dyslexia as the letters are hard to differentiate and words tend to jumble together. Dyslexic fonts provide greater contrast in letters which solves this problem. Our digital library collections in OverDrive and Libby feature a dyslexic font option that makes determining letters much easier so readers can focus on finding and enjoying their next great read.

We value and respect your privacy. SJCPLS will not publish, share, or sell your email address in any way.
