Our very own RN Grad Fabrice Florin will be sharing information and insights from his family’s journey toward fully electrifying their home. Resilient Neighborhoods in the Community

A big thank you to our wonderful volunteers for educating the Ember Stomp festival-goers about the Resilient Neighborhoods Climate Action Workshops.


Ember Stomp is a popular wildfire safety and prevention event. Thousands attended the festival which took place on September 7 at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael.


Did you know that our workshops not only help you reduce your carbon footprint, but also take the steps necessary to be ready for climate-related disasters like drought, floods, and wildfires?

The free, virtual Marin Green Home Tour showcases how Marin homeowners are adapting their homes to combat climate change, improving air quality, generating clean energy, and moving towards a safer, healthier, greener, more resilient future. The event features short video tours of 5 Marin homes, followed by live Q&As with the homeowners. See heat pumps, induction stoves, solar and battery systems, and other strategies for maximizing clean energy. See greywater systems, rainwater harvesting, recirculation pumps, and other strategies for conserving water. Learn how to access rebates and free planning services for your own green home updates, tips for renters, and whether solar remains a great investment.


This event is a project of Sustainable Marin, sponsored and promoted by the Marin County Sustainability Team, Marin Climate and Energy Partnership, Marin Water, MCE, Bidirectional Energy, Rock Rabbit, Ongaro & Sons, SolarCraft Services, and many more.

Wednesday, October 9 | 12:00 - 12:30pm. Portable Generators- Backup Power for Emergencies. Electrify Now. We’ll cover portable standalone batteries, large home battery systems that can be used with or without solar panels, natural gas generators and portable gasoline or propane generators. We will spend the most time exploring portable generators, the option that currently delivers the largest power output for the money.


Saturday, October 12 | 10:10 - 12:30pm | Planning for Marin Gardens. College of Marin. Choosing the right plant for the right place is key to a successful garden. In this class you will learn about pollinator and butterfly gardens, gardening with deer and wildlife, fire-resistant plants, plant communities appropriate for different garden types and tips on maintaining these gardens. Cost: $77


Wednesday, October 16 | 5:00 - 6:00pm. E-Bike Essentials & Savings. Ride Drive Clean Marin. Not sure if an Ebike is for you? Want to learn more about the technology, the categories of bikes, and best practices for getting around safely? Come to one of our free events, led by knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate Ebikers. We’ll be joined by Palo Alto Bikes, a Bay Area Ebike source.


Saturday, October 19 | 9:00am - 12:00pm. Habitat Restoration and Nature Walk. Marin Water. In the morning, volunteer to flex your muscles and restore habitat by removing invasive French broom. In the afternoon, join our guided walk to talk about the biodiversity of Marin and how we can all protect our natural resources.


Tuesday, October 22 | 12:00 - 12:30pm. Heat Pump Water Heaters - Lowest Cost, Lowest Carbon Hot Water Electrify Now. Heat pump water heating is by far the most efficient way to heat water - 3 to 5 times more efficient than any other technology including tankless gas heaters. Due to its low energy use, a heat pump water heater will avoid 1 ton of CO2 emissions every year compared to gas water heaters.

Come and learn about the present and future local impacts of climate change on Marin gardens. Learn what actions gardeners can take to be part of the solution – helping to mitigate climate change.


Tuesday, October 22 | 1| 4:00 - 5:15pm PST. October National Call – Navigating Climate & Election Anxiety with Tamara Staton. Elders Climate Action. This National Call will explore the intersection of climate and election anxiety. We’ll begin by defining these phenomena and examining their root causes and common manifestations. Most importantly, we’ll introduce a practical 5-step framework designed to help you navigate these complex emotions and concerns skillfully.
