"Honey doesn't come in one shade. It's pale gold in one jar and near-black in another, and every jar is still, unmistakably, honey. Summer time is coming to an end, and our babies have changed between each shade! It’s wonderful. This is what I want to talk about and help you consider. The color of your childs skin is and is not important to their sense of belonging within the Black community. This can get complicated, so let me give you a brief overview, and leave you with some food for thought."

Cultural Spotlight

Latin & Hispanic Heritage Month

National Hispanic Heritage Month is annually celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements for the United States.

Celebrate at the Y's 5th annual Welcoming Event! This event is free and open to all. Sunday, Sep. 13th 2-5pm.

Hispanic Heritage Month Exhibit

Adventure! Children’s Museum is proud to celebrate the opening of our Mes de Herencia Hispana (Hispanic Heritage Month) exhibit! Enjoy hands-on crafts, a game of lotería, and a special dance performance by Corazón Oaxaqueño, a local dance group showcasing traditional dances from Oaxaca.
