Meet Our Summer Stars: Interns Shining Bright in STEM!

Highlighting our

Summer Interns!

We are super excited to feature the 2024 Exelon Foundation STEM Academy interns who are worked across the Exelon service territories this summer.

In this issue you will hear from interns who interned across several different departments at ComEd, BGE, PECO and Pepco.

Congratulations to all of our amazing alumni who interned this summer!

From Jillian Kouzmanoff:

This summer, I had an amazing time working in Reliability Programs on various projects, including preventative maintenance and pole inspections. My proudest moment was creating an automation that transformed pole inspection time from days to just hours. Throughout my internship, I developed technical skills with CEGIS, Oracle, and Asset Suite, and enhanced my teamwork and communication abilities.

From Trevor Gardner:

During my summer internship at PECO Mapping and Document Services Department I served as a data analyst. I tracked key performance indicators to assess performance, and I used tools like Power BI and Excel. I got to network with other interns, PECO professionals, and upper management. The team I worked with was amazing, and I look forward to returning to PECO next summer!

From Carolyn Lee:

As an intern on the Gas Compliance team at BGE this summer, I had the opportunity to work on improving the outside agency visit form system. I created a form that auto-populates a database. I also used Python and Microsoft Azure to deploy a GPT-4o with vision model to extract data from over 200 historical PDF forms from the past 5 years and populate a database that runs a dashboard I created displaying trends through dynamic visualizations in Power BI. I also got to meet and ask Calvin Butler questions about how he envisions the future of Exelon in regard to AI when he visited Spring Gardens!

From Allegra Oledibe:

I had an incredible internship at Pepco in the Smart Grid department! I got to explore the world of energy innovation, focusing on how technologies like Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) can shape the future of our power systems. I conducted a market analysis on V2G technology from a utility standpoint, looking at enhancing grid resilience and sustainability. And I’m happy to share that I won 1st place in the Summer Intern Presentation competition.

From Micaela Venyo:

This summer I had the opportunity to begin my second internship with Baltimore Gas and Electric! I worked in the Smart Metering and Technology department and learned about unique innovations like the bypass meter. I enjoyed the company culture and felt a great sense of belonging even as an intern. I have extended my internship, and I’m excited to continue learning!
