Forest of Reading 2026
The Forest of Reading is Canada's largest recreational reading program and an initiative of the Ontario Library Association. The goal is to encourage a love of reading.
The Forest of Reading celebrates Canadian books, authors, publishers, and illustrators. The program is for children and youth from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Participants are encouraged to read the nominated titles and vote for their favourite books. Voting takes place in April 2026.

Stand Up! Fall Prevention

Movement is one of the best ways to improve balance. As muscles weaken and reaction time slows with age, regular exercise helps keep you strong and steady. This introductory 4-week program, with Dorothy Embacher, an Older Adult Fitness Specialist, provides 15 minutes of educational topics with 45 minutes of standing and seated exercise that will focus on improving balance, increasing strength, flexibility and agility. Primarily for older adults who are concerned about their balance, or wish to prevent falls, and are able to stand with or without support.

Pick up a gingerbread house kit from the library. Take it home and design a festive candy home any way you like! Add candy, chocolate, sweets - the designs are endless!
Bring your house back to the library by Wednesday, December 3 and we will display them during Christmas on the Bay for the Gingerbread House Competition. The community will vote for their favourite and the top three wreaths will receive a festive prize!
Winners will be notified on Monday, December 8.
