Fall is in the Air...

As we head into the fourth quarter of 2018, it's a great time to reflect on where we have been and where we are headed in 2019. 
2018 brought an unbelievable lack of inventory.  And while there are some buyers out there, my sense is that anyone who might consider an elective move is just sitting on the sidelines.  There is just very little to consider moving in to.  
2018 has also brought rising interest rates.  We are now at nearly five percent on conforming loans.  It's hard to believe that we were under 3% just a couple of years ago. Rates are expected to continue to rise -- buy now to take advantage of still reasonable rates!
There is always talk these days about when the market will change -- a pull back has been anticipated for a while now. My feeling is that we should have a strong first half off 2019 (my crystal ball), so if you are considering a move, now is the time to call me so we can put a strategy in place!

Getting your home market ready

Dear Kathe, We watch a lot of HGTV and aren't sure what is the most important thing to tackle when getting our home ready for the market. Thoughts?

Presenting a market ready home is the most important thing you can do to help your home sell quickly and for top dollar. Market ready is not, unfortunately, necessarily what you would choose if you were staying in the home and will not necessarily reflect your personal tastes. In preparing your home for market, it is important to keep in mind that you are moving and prepare your home for the tastes of your most likely buyer. The price point of your home will give you a good idea of who that buyer will likely be and that will help you and your agent strategize as to modifications necessary to attract that buyer...

Moving on before moving out 

Dear Kathe, We are thinking about selling the home we have lived in for more than 20 years but it seems like such a daunting task.  Do you have any advice?
